This morning northbound traffic on Dale Mabry was shut down for two hours. Charles Eadens, of Tampa was driving a 2000 Chevrolet 3500PK, carrying 250 gallons of fertilizer mixed with water. He had stopped in Dale Mabry’s center median and was going to head northbound.

Ali Zumbado of Tampa was in a 2002 Mercedes-Benz headed north on Dale Mabry in the left lane. Troopers said, for an unknown reason Zumbado failed to control the vehicle and drifted into the median hitting the rear-end of the truck driven by Eadens. When the crash happened the truck started to leak some of the fertilizer onto the road. Hazardous crews had to be called in and remove the material.

A Lecanto woman died on Thursday after she turned in front of a truck.

The accident happened at the intersection of Kensington Avenue and East Gulf to Lake Highway in Inverness. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Bonnie Mitchell, 67, stopped at Kensington Avenue and was making a left turn onto Gulf to Lake Highway. She turned into the path of an oncoming 2009 Ford F450 causing the accident.

The driver of the truck tried to avoid hitting the Kia Optima driven by Mitchell. He tried braking and swerving but the truck hit the left side of the Kia. The Kia then spun and came to rest on the inside lane of Gulf to Lake Highway. Mitchell was taken to Citrus Memorial Hospital where she died from her injuries.

A 66-year old pedestrian died after she was hit by a car in St Petersburg

A 66-year old woman was struck by a car while crossing Ulmerton Road in St. Petersburg. The accident happened around 9:44 p.m. near the corner of Ulmerton Road and 49th Street. Florida Highway Patrol says the woman was trying to cross Ulmerton Road when she stepped in the path of an oncoming 1988 Ford Mustang. The driver of the Mustang stopped after the woman was struck. The pedestrian was taken to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment of her injuries but she died the next morning. The investigation is ongoing and her identity is being held until next of kin can be notified.

A young man dies after speeding in a car accident

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the young man was traveling at 100 mph when he slammed into the back of a truck on Interstate-4 on Friday morning. The westbound lanes of I-4 were closed for several hours as crews investigated the accident. Troopers said 33-year-old David McKenna was in his black Infinity SUV, speeding in the center lane, when he struck the back of a box truck. Depris stretched several football fields long. McKenna died at the scene from his fatal injuries and the driver of the truck was taken to South Seminole Hospital with minor injuries. The crash is still being investigated.

A pedestrian was killed in a hit and run crash in Manatee County

According to reports the pedestrian was walking south on US 41 near 89th Street. Investigators said an unknown vehicle was heading north in the outside lane and struck the pedestrian. That vehicle left the scene and did not leave any information. The second vehicle headed the same direction did not see the pedestrian in the roadway and also hit him. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released until the next of kin can be notified. Another motorcyclist was killed last Thursday in an auto accident

A young bicyclist suffered serious injuries after an auto accident in Lutz.

A vehicle struck and injured a bicyclist in a hit and run accident.

The investigation is ongoing in a hit and run accident on County Road 48, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers say a vehicle headed east on County
Road 49, near Isachatta Road and struck a rider last Thursday. The driver of the vehicle left the scene but left behind a black, passenger side, power, outside mirror
and portions of a vent shade. Authorities believe this came from a large pick-up truck.

The bicyclist, Nolan Scott of Floral City, said he used his lights to get the attention
of a passing motorist after the vehicle that hit him left the scene. Emergency crews took the 18-year-old to Citrus Memorial Hospital where he is in serious condition.

A 92-year-old man died after an auto accident in Polk County.

Edd Myers, 92, died after he was hit by a car shortly after the accident. According to reports, Mr. Myers had crossed State Road 37 to check his mailbox on the other side. He then turned around to cross the road again and walked into the path of a Toyota Camry driven by Jonathan Spears, 37. Mr. Spears tried to avoid hitting Myers but was not able to stop in time. He then immediately stopped to perform CPR on Myers until emergency crews came to the scene. Myers was transported to Bartow Regional Medical Center where he died of fatal injuries.

Spears was not believed to be impaired at the time and no charges are pending. Several hours after the auto accident State Road 37 was shut down. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
